I feel so very cool. I've been saying for a month or more now that I was going to buy myself an iPod for Christmas, and I did. This is big. I mean, I'm the girl who didn't own a CD player of any kind until about 1995. I got a discman. I plugged it into my Sony boom box (it had mega bass!) that I'd gotten for my birthday in 1993. And that's what I used to listen to CDs until, um, 2003. Which, really, is kinda sad considering how much I love music. I guess since I grew up without a lot of money I got used to making do with what I had, and I made that boom box/discman combo work until they both just gave up the ghost.
But now I'm up to date. Not cutting edge or anything, but I feel cool. Got the 30GB one. Black. I was going to get a Nano, but when I loaded all my favorite songs into iTunes a few months back I realized I could never get the collection down below 4GB. I think my 80s collection alone would nearly fill a Nano. And now all those CDs can go into the garage so they're not taking up space in my house. Double yay!
Christmas was really good this year, save for Kourt coming down with some ickiness yesterday. My family is big on playing board games, and we got some new ones to play this year. Good thing, too. We'd been through the cards on Trivial Pursuit so many times we were starting to recognize ones we'd already heard. Mom made a pancake dinner from scratch Saturday night -- always yum. Kourt and I cheated and opened our presents Tuesday night because we couldn't stand the curiosity any longer, and I got some awesome stuff. Red faux leather jacket that totally kicks ass. New jeans. Electric pencil sharpener. Hey, don't laugh. I wanted one.
But now I guess all that's over. Got to go to work in a few. Bleh.
